Ghee has been used from the ancient time of Ayurveda, where it has great medicinal, cleansing, and nourishing values.

Also called desi ghee or clarified butter, it has a great value in traditional Indian cooking.

It is added to many Indian dishes to enhance the flavor. It is used to saute spices, used in coating rice before cooking to enhance the flavor of the rice.

Cows ghee is considered to be healthier than other types, as it has fewer calories than Buffalo’s.

According to Ayurveda, it pacifies pitta and Vata dosha so it is best for the persons having Pitta or Vata dominating body type.


Benefit of Ghee

Number 1

Lactose-free

It is found to be lactose-free, a sugar found in milk. There are many people who are lactose resistant so they can’t take milk but it’s an advantage that they can use Cow’s milk ghee.

Number 2

Casein-free

It is the protein component of the milk which can cause milk allergies in many people.

But while preparing it the milk solids having lactose and casein float over the top from where they are removed thus leaving it, to lactose and casein free.

In a very rare case, a highly allergic person may Trigger any reaction by it.

Number 3

Ghee is a saturated healthy fat

In spite of being a saturated fat, it is loaded with a lot of health benefits for us in comparison to other saturated fats like a creamy burger or fried fat diets.

It’s a myth in our new generation that Ghee is not good for our heart or weight, but low-fat fad was in 1995 and unsaturated fat fear was in 2005.

Researches on the basis of two studies in 2010 and 2014 prove that saturated fat consumption alone is not responsible for heart disease.

The key point is to keep it in moderation.

Good for digestion

Ghee is very useful for our digestion and to cure constipation as it helps in secreting some enzymes that digest the food.

Adding half a tablespoon of it, in a glass of warm milk before bedtime enhances digestion and helps to relieve constipation.

Heat stable for baking and sauteing

Having a high smoking point, Ghee does not burn easily like other fats thereby not producing free radicals known to affect our health in the long run.

As the vegetable oils are unstable for cooking and change to trans fat on repeated cooking.

One example can be Indian samosa which is highly unhealthy being fried again and again in the same oil creating it into trans fat.

Vegetable oils may high smoking point. But they are unstable being delicate.

Vitamin A is very essential for eyesight.
Vitamin E is good for our skin.

This prevents us from deadly disease cancer.

It is a fatty acid having many health benefits. Studies have shown that conjugated linoleic acid may prevent cancer, helps in reducing body fat, helpful in lowering blood pressure.

Ghee Helps in healthy weight loss

Having medium-chain fatty acids helps, to decrease body weight, belly fat, hip and waist circumference, as compared to long-chain triglycerides.

According to a study, it has a quality to mobilize fat from stubborn areas of the body fastens the metabolism and reduces bad cholesterol.

It is full of nutrients. it increases our resistance against seasonal allergies like cough cold etc.

•1 tablespoon  contains 110 calories
•A serving contains 12.6 gram of Fat
•Vitamin A 391 IU
•Vitamin E 0.4 milligrams
•Vitamin K 1.1 m micrograms
•Carbohydrates 0.1 gram
•Proteins 0.3 grams
Preparation of ghee at home
First of all
•We prepare butter  by churning milk cream or curd
•Butter mainly contains
Butterfat proteins and water.

•Butter is heated to separate the oil from other components, strained off to make ghee.

According to Ayurveda Ghee is considered as satvik, providing good Vibes to the brain when taken with food in proper quantity.

In Ayurved, ghee is included in four Sneha, the main oils, as, Ghrit, Tail, Vasa, and majja. These four Sneha are the main ingredients of many ayurvedic medicines and in all these, ghee is called the main oil or
Maha Sneh.

Being saturated fat it should be consumed in moderation.

For those who are consuming it daily, exercise is necessary not to gain weight.

Ways to take in the daily diet

It can be taken in daily routine as

•We can cook some of our vegetables or curries alternatively, in cow’s ghee, vegetable oil or mustard oil.

•We can apply a little of, it on our roties or paranthas, especially in winters, when the demand for high-calorie food is more.

1 to 2 spoons of it can be added to our daily diet to get its benefits.

So now it’s clear that we can please our taste buds by adding a little ghee in our diet on a daily basis and get it its maximum benefits.
