3. Use of Ginger for Dry Cough

Ginger is a tropical plant with aromatic underground stems. It has been used in cooking for at least 2,000 years. The root of the ginger plant is used in cooking, especially in Asian cuisine, to make gingerbread, ginger beer, and other foods. It is also used as an herbal remedy for colds and to help prevent nausea.

Ginger has been used for dry coughs for a very long time. The juice of the fresh root has been used to treat mild morning sickness in pregnant women.

Its use can be traced back to ancient China, Egypt, and Greece where it was used as a preservative and spice. In India, ginger is a vital ingredient in most curry dishes.

Ginger is a common medicinal herb that has been used for ages to treat ailments such as nausea, arthritis, and headaches. It is also used in many recipes such as ginger cookies, ginger ale, and ginger cake. Many people take ginger daily to help them with common problems such as diarrhea and constipation.

Ginger has been traditionally used for centuries for its ability to stimulate the digestive tract and increase appetite.

The effective compounds found in ginger are believed to be zerumbone and gingerol. These contain powerful anti-inflammatory properties that may help relieve nausea and vomiting while aiding in digestion.

Many people use ginger root to relieve symptoms of colds and flu, including coughs, sore throats, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

In addition, some people use it to help relieve menstrual cramps or to ease pain from cancer treatments.

To relieve dry cough ginger tea can be taken twice a day.

4. Use of Steam for Dry Cough

Steam inhalation is very helpful for dry coughs that are caused by the common cold. You can buy a steam vaporizer or one can be improvised using a pot of water and a towel draped over the head and shoulders to keep in the moisture.

Just make sure the pot does not boil dry.

The most common cause of pneumonia in children is the same virus that causes the common cold, so any child with pneumonia can benefit from this treatment.

The vaporizer is best if it is used every two to three hours during the day and night until improvement occurs (usually after three or four treatments).

A large basin of hot water will also work if you have no electricity or gas stove.

A study was conducted some years ago in which patients with pneumonia were randomly assigned to one of four groups:

Group A inhaled steam,

Group B got oral vitamin C,

Group C inhaled salbutamol (a medicine that widens bronchi),

And group D took no medicine.

Group A had less coughing.

So to get relief from dry cough, take steam at least once a day.

5. Use of Salt Water Gargles for Dry Cough

Dry cough can be distressing for patients and may sometimes disturb their sleep. It is often due to irritation of the upper airways by inhaled or ingested foreign material or by postnasal drip from inflammatory conditions such as rhinitis or sinusitis.

Saltwater gargles are an effective treatment for dry cough. Saltwater gargles are a traditional technique for cough treatment.

The cough is caused by the irritation of inflamed tissue in the respiratory tract. The cough helps to clear secretions from the lungs and bronchi.

A new study found that gargling with salt water reduces symptoms of dry cough associated with the common cold.

Researchers reviewed previous studies on saltwater gargles. They found enough evidence to recommend the use of saltwater gargles for dry cough symptoms associated with the common cold.

The researchers also recommended that patients should repeat the treatment every two hours, while symptoms last.

To prepare saline solution, mix one teaspoon of salt in 250 ml or in a glass of warm water (37 degrees C). Gargle the solution for about 30 seconds and spit it out. Patients should not swallow the solution while gargling.

Saltwater gargles are a great way to help prevent a dry cough. Some people find them helpful as a way to stop a dry cough.

If you have a dry cough, gargling with salt water may be the easiest thing you can do to help yourself.

Saltwater gargles may help control a dry, irritating cough in some patients. A variety of agents have been used for this purpose, including homeopathic products, local anesthetics, and antihistamines.

6 Use of Peppermint for Dry Cough

Peppermint is the most widely used herb for treating persistent dry cough. Dry cough is a symptom of many conditions and some of them need to be diagnosed accurately to find the right treatment.

It is also known as phlegm cough or post-nasal drip cough. It can be caused by allergies, colds, flu, bronchitis, and some other viruses and bacteria.

Peppermint is a perennial herb with aromatic leaves. The oil derived from peppermint leaves is commonly used in cooking, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical preparations. It is also used for treating certain respiratory disorders, such as the common cold.

Peppermint can help relieve symptoms of a dry cough caused by a common cold, including runny nose, scratchy throat, headache, sore throat, mild fever, fatigue, and nasal congestion.

Peppermint oil stimulates the body into action against the cause of the infection – viruses or bacteria – that causes a cold. It has been reported to be effective in treating both acute and chronic bronchial conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and whooping cough.

You can take peppermint tea or peppermint lozenges to soothe the throat. Also, peppermint essential oil can be added to the water, while taking steam.
