Hypothyroidism is a condition where hormones T3 and T4 becomes considerably low by increased TSH.

Let’s discuss some foods that should be taken and that should be avoided, while on hypothyroidism therapy to ensure the better absorption of medicine as well to maintain our weight.

Some of the foods which can be taken to keep our TSH in pace and for weight loss are

●Mushroom

Mushroom is one of the best foods for thyroid patients. It contains more amount of selenium, which helps in the conversion of T4 hormone to T3 hormone, thus very necessary to treat hypothyroidism.

●Nuts

However, nutritious consumption is beneficial for everyone but patients of hypothyroid should specifically include nuts in their diet. Nuts contain selenium. Almonds and walnuts are a good diet for this disease.

●Milk and curd

Minerals, calcium, and other Vitamins are found in milk in adequate quantities. Eating yogurt boosts immunity in the body. Probiotics help maintain the gastrointestinal system healthy in hypothyroidism.

●Iodine

The thyroid patient should eat iodized food, as iodine is essential for the formation of thyroid hormones.

●Nuts and Seeds
●Almonds,
●cashews and
●sunflower seeds

The diet which contains adequate amounts of iron and copper, their consumption helps in thyroid function. To get iron,  should eat almonds, cashews, and sunflower seeds in your diet.

●Whole grains

Compared to flour, whole grains contain high amounts of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fibers.

Eating cereals increase the body’s immune system. Eat old brown rice, oats, whole wheat bread, whole-wheat pasta, and popcorn.

●The eggs

People suffering from hypothyroid disease should definitely include eggs in their diet as hormones T3 and T4 are made up of a protein that is found in eggs. So 2 eggs per day can work well.

●Fish

Those who prefer non-veg must eat fish because iodine is found in large amounts. Although iodine is found in all fishes, oceanic fishes have high amounts of iodine.

Therefore, saline fish like sailfish and shrimp should be eaten in which omega-3 fatty acids are found in a large quantity.

For vegans supplements of fish cord liver oil can be taken

●Fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are the primary sources of antioxidants that help the body fight diseases. The fiber found in vegetables strengthens the digestive tract, which makes the food digestible.

●Green and leafy vegetables

Hyperthyroidism makes the bones slim and weak so green and leafy vegetables should be consumed in which there are vitamin-D and calcium which strengthens bones.

Eating red and green chilies, tomatoes and blueberries lead to an excessive amount of antioxidant inside the body. Therefore, patients of hypothyroidism should consume fruits and green vegetables.

Fenugreek (मेथी)

Fenugreek seeds provide us with many types of health benefits. Fenugreek proves to be a good diet for hypothyroidism disease. Thyroid hormone can be controlled by the Antioxidants present in fenugreek,

Flax Seeds

There are abundant omega-3 fatty acids in flax seeds. This plays an important role in working properly in the thyroid gland. People suffering from hypothyroidism should definitely use flax seeds and flaxseed oil.

●Walnut

The nut is also called as beneficial to wipe hypothyroidism. In addition to seafood, walnut is considered to be the best source of iodine.

Iodine is an essential nutrient that plays an important role in keeping the thyroid gland healthy and functioning.

●Mulethi

Mulethi is often used for a cough. But it also works to balance the thyroid gland.

It maintains energy levels. Apart from this, the major component found in the mulethi is glycyrrhizic acid, or GZA, which is highly invasive, and prevents thyroid cancer cells from growing.

●Coriander

In a glass of water, soak 2 teaspoons of coriander in the night and boil it in the morning. Drink it empty stomach when it remains one fourth. Continuous use of this treatment can help to get rid of the hypothyroidism problem.

●Ayurveda Herbs

Some plant extracts, like ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica), and guggul (Commiphora Mukul), may ease symptoms of hypothyroidism.

To keep our levels in control and for weight loss due to hypothyroidism following foods should be avoided

Soy

Soybean and soy-rich foods have phytoestrogens that can prevent the activity of the enzyme that creates thyroid hormones.

One study found that women taking a dose of soya were three times more likely to develop hypothyroidism.

◆Iodine-rich foods in excess

Some forms of hypothyroidism are due to the lack of adequate iodine. In such cases, the use of iodized salt or iodine-rich foods can be beneficial.

But eating too much iodine can have an adverse effect and the thyroid gland activity can be suppressed.

◆Iron

The dosage of iron or calcium can also change the effectiveness of many thyroid medicines.

◆High fiber foods

Although a high fiber diet is usually recommended, after taking thyroid medication, its absorption may be interfering with.

A gap of at least two hours is necessary after taking medicine to have a high fiber meal.

◆Some vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables that are rich in fiber, such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach,  can stop drug absorption.

As there are some elements in these that interfere with the body’s ability to use iodine to produce hormones. So these can be used cooked.

So dear friends try to plan your food according to your hormone levels, what to take, and what to avoid.

My personal advice is not to take anything healthy in excess and not to avoid anything completely.

Be wise and consume everything in moderation as each of these food items described above have a good or bad impact when taken for a long time.
