●It lets us cook using less butter or oil and

●Saves us a couple of minutes through kitchen cleanup.

Bad Effects of Nonstick Cookware

The unique coating on non-stick utensils prevents to stick the food, we are cooking, at the bottom, thus helping us to provide a less greasy surface, thereby reducing our intake of oil, thereby helping us to stick to our weight loss plan.

But seriously speaking, are these non-stick pans really secure for all of us, as they seem to be?

Lisa McManus, executive testing and tasting editor for America’s Test Kitchen, states that a nonstick pan is usually made from aluminum, then is coated with poly tetra fluoro ethylene, or PTFE (Teflon is a name brand company the coating) or contains ceramic implemented to the pan without PTFE.

Sometimes PFOA, Perfluorooctanoic acid, a synthetic compound, that has many applications like depletion of water and oil is used in the formation process of some PTFE cookware.

These are really carcinogenic compounds which begin emitting poisonous fumes if the pan becomes too hot.  These fumes may lead to flu-like symptoms in humans and may actually be deadly to birds.

Overheating the pans may also create the coating less efficient.

At about 300 degrees Celcius or roughly 600 degrees Fahrenheit, poly tetra fluoro ethylene begins to dissociate, thus releasing these poisonous fumes which we inhale each time we cook using a non-stick pan or pot!

Additionally, when we use non-stick pans on a daily basis, those will probably scratch and get scratched at a certain stage, particularly if we use cheap or poor-quality pans or the ones that are roughly used.

This increases the chances of releasing a toxin in our food!

And it’s very sad that our very best friend in the kitchen might actually function as the family’s worst wellness enemy.

History of Non-Stick Cookware

These were broadly used by most of the households, for at least ten decades.

Its toxicity started when Teflon was discovered to have bad impacts on human health.  A lot of individuals have known about it, thus making it undesirable by the majority of families.

But after some alterations, it was accepted by the general public.

Teflon was found to be associated with a lot of serious health problems. For this reason, manufacturers consider substitution of the product and the ways wherein they can market their goods without people believing that using nonstick cookware may potentially harm their health.

In 2009, GenX has been introduced in this category.  According to the producers, it had been the safer substitute for PFOA, hence presumed by buyers to be nontoxic.  Again, virtually every family has patronized this amazing utensil

The bad effects of Nonstick Utensils

●Different types of cancers associated with PFOA

●The flu-like disease brought on by inhaling fumes from this cookware

●The bad effects of PFOA on pregnant women

●Mortality in birds due to the effects of PFOA

Causes of Bad effects

The issue with GenX is that it is not really secure for customers.  In reality, it includes a lot of health risks in addition to extreme medical problems, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

It only suggests that this stated to be “replacement chemical and is a safer replacement for PFOA”  can also be poisonous.”

An article was written by Hannah Gardener, an epidemiologist, and a nontoxic living consultant stated the truth that

There was no evidence to support GenX as a safer substitute. It was simply not PFOA, but its structure was quite similar. GenX also falls into the category of PFAS  (Or PFC) chemicals. Therefore, it is not shocking that in recent years since GenX came on the market, new research, particularly studies conducted with animals, have suggested that GenX has similar toxic effects as PFOA. So we’d be smart to remove any nonstick cookware made from GenX off our shopping list and get it out of our kitchens too. It should be clear at this point that substituting a known toxic PFAS chemical with a structurally-similar option can’t be trusted as health-protective either.

The shocking reality is that AT LEAST 90 percent of Americans have PFOA in their blood.

PFOA is very hard and remains in the body for several years.  The view of Environment Working Group is that, if new exposures to PFOA have been ceased, it could still take more than 4 YEARS for the body to eliminate half the PFOA that is gathered on your organs and cells!!!
